Darin Fong is a California licensed Structural and Professional Engineer. He is also licensed in AZ, NV, OR, WA, and TX. Darin has designed more than 300 million square feet of buildings in his career beginning in 1992. He was educated at the University of California at Los Angeles earning both a B.S. and M.S degrees. His introduction to tilt up design was launched under the invaluable tutelage of both Dave Kramer, SE and John Lawson, SE, both of whom are highly considered as pioneers in tiltup design. In his 12 years of employment by Kramer and Lawson, he learned the importance of innovative design inspired by both constructability and budget. He was trained to troubleshoot field problems maintaining a high-quality control of detailing. In 2012, Darin had the privilege of partnering with another high esteemed pioneer, the late Ajit Randhava SE. Darin learned from Ajit the skills to establish an exceptional client relationship. Ajit handpicked and mentored Darin to be his successor after his planned retirement. Darin continued the reputable name of Ajit’s office after his death and served as HSA’s President and Principal between the years of 2013 to 2019.

In 2020, Darin founded DFA Engineering with the goal of maintaining a smaller sized “boutique” engineering office that was client friendly. Darin takes pride in personally overseeing most of the projects in the office from design concept, development of working drawings and then construction administration. He considers his construction administration skills to be one of the biggest assets of the company.

In it’s inaugural year, the office designed approximately 20 million square feet . Projects spanned over the western United States in Southern and Northern California, Oregon, Arizona, and Nevada. Projects also ranged from ground up construction, tenant improvements, seismic retrofits, and remodels. In numerous successful projects, DFA has proven to be a vital team member with the developer, architect, and contractor.
